Jaytee Valencia secures GAIN Cup

While Paul Hennessy was on the mark with a double at Shelbourne on Saturday, he was also making his mark in the first round of the Gain Cup at Curraheen where he turned out the John Turner owned Jaytee Valencia (to produce the run of the night in winning Heat 5.

The son of Farley Blitz and Bling Bling Bolt broke fast and led all the way for a length and a half margin over Newlawn Peter in 28.30.

Pat Leahy’s Happy Endings (Forest Master/ Inslipsvalentine) was another eye-catching winner as she led all for a seven and a half length margin over Greenisle Rover in 28.43.

Two winners came home in 28.49. First of them was Richard Newell and JJ Fennelly’s Newlawn Luke (Definate Opinion/ Blaknomilk) as he led all the way to take the opening heat by three and a half lengths from Ardrath Scarlett.

Also rowing in with a 28.49 return was the James Roche owned and trained Lurriga Gold (Droopys Scolari/ Black Bick) which led all for an eight lengths margin over Sandman Sonny.

The other heat winners were Paddy Everard’s Star Ace (Ace Hi Rumble/ Sadie Vieri) in 28.80, Denis O’Malley’s Up The Dines (Crash/ Arch Swing) 28.78 and Mary Moriarty’s My Right Ear (Jordansoilutions/ Boher Maeve) in 28.60.
